A mainstream press nod towards Qualcomm’s investment in motion-sensing
We mentioned this earlier, when the release went out back in early January, but we note that the news has been picked up by mainstream press. Always good to see them talking about motion-sensing apps.
InvenSense is a startup who announced an “integrated dual-axis gyroscope” for consumer products back in November. In early January, the company received a big ($11 million) round by a group of investors including Qualcomm. Business Week picked this up (read the article here), and has some conjecture about the future of motion sensing (with which we agree):
“Today these gyros are used for image stabilization in video cameras (basically, to reduce the shaking and the jerking). But in the future, the components will be used in computer mice and remote controls, allowing users to scroll through menus by pointing at a TV and waving the little gadget about. The device could also allow for new, motion-based menu navigation in cell phones.”
